Foundations/Organizations

-- This foundation has helped our family with such things as helping pay bills (household and medical), resources for help with larger co-pays, travel and gas, not to mention emotional support. AND they paid for air/hotel for our trip to the OMG2012 Summit in Las Vegas. We love these girls (Debbie, Leslie and Lizzy) and I don't know what I would have done without them when I found out Lauren had relapsed. We also helped them with their Elevating Life campaign by doing a radio interview that you can listen to here.

-- The Stupid Cancer Foundation is an organization full of resources, including an online forum, for young adults, ages 15-40, affected by cancer. Be it a survivor, caregiver or advocate, the support is immeasurable. They give off the "All the cool kids are doing it" vibe and I love it!

-- Forget the 10k walks to raise money and awareness for cancer, St. Baldrick's puts a new spin on advocating. Instead of walking/running to raise funds for research, participants shave their heads in solidarity with pediatric cancer patients all over the world. This foundation is near and dear to my heart as I have never seen a more dedicated group dead set on raising awareness and funds for children stricken with this ruthless disease.

-- This is where Lauren's NP, Dr. Mark Bricca, calls home. Although in Oregon, we still talk to him on the phone and skype when possible. He is responsible for putting Lauren's cancer in remission the first time and still working on a treatment plan, post chemo/conventional treatment, that will keep her in remission.

-- Our oncology team calls both places above "home" and they have been following Lauren since December 2009. I'm so grateful that we didn't have to find new docs for Lauren when we moved to Reno. What a mess that would have been.
